Parking 

We provide ample parking for the size of the park; however, demand can be higher during events and bank holidays. Please note that booking your visit does not guarantee a parking space. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and we recommend allowing extra time for arrival or considering alternative transport on busier days.

 

Bird House Update

Following the lifting of national avian flu restrictions on 9 April 2026, our Bird House is now open at all times during our normal opening hours. However, to ensure the ongoing safeguarding of our birds against the risk of avian influenza, strict biosecurity measures will remain in place.

All visitors must use the disinfectant foot mats provided upon entering the Bird House and pushchairs and strollers must be left in the designated area outside the Bird House.

We will continue to follow all official guidance carefully in order to protect our animal collection and appreciate your understanding and continued support.

Whilst at the park please…

Remember to…

·      Respect our animals, wildlife, and each other.

·      Report if you discover any hazards, damaged or dangerous equipment immediately to the duty manager.

·      Wash your hands before eating and drinking and after touching any animals.

·      Eat and drink only in designated areas.

·      Use the bins provided around the park.

·      Ensure children and vulnerable adults are always supervised by a responsible adult, especially around vehicles, open ponds and whilst using the age-appropriate play park equipment.

·      Be aware of tractor crossing zones and open ponds identified on the map.

·      Look out for water sprayers and special effects.

·      Use the disinfectant foot dips to clean soles of shoes and hand gel to sanitise hands during your visit and on exit.

·      Be aware that all animal feed, used by the park and available to purchase, may contain nuts, shellfish and other known allergens, traces of which may be found around the park.

·      Speak to a park manager if you have a food or drink allergy or intolerance.

·      Take home all your belongings.

·      Use the stepping stones safely - children and vulnerable adults must be always supervised.

Disclaimer: Caution is to be take on the stepping stones as they may become slippery when wet. By using the stepping stones, you are accepting full liability and so at your own risk! The Tropical Butterfly House Ltd will not be held liable for any injuries or damages.

Remember not to…

·      Frighten, catch, or chase the animals or throw anything into enclosures.

·      Feed animals anything other than park purchased animal feed.

·      Run around the park or climb on walls or fences.

·      Wander from the marked foot paths.

·      Paddle in ponds due to the dangers of open water- we have 3 open ponds in the Bird House, 1 in the Wilderness Walkthrough, 1 on the Nature Trail and 1 in the Butterfly House. These areas are identified on the map. Please remember children and vulnerable adults must be always supervised.

·      Put your fingers into the animal enclosures or tap on glass.

·      Allow mouths to come into contact with animals or enclosures.

·      Touch animal droppings.

·      Touch sheep and /or goats if you are pregnant due to the risk of toxoplasmosis.

·      Touch terrapins as they can carry salmonella.

·      Smoke (inc. e-cigs) or consume alcohol in the park.

·      Bring pets onsite except registered assistance dogs.

·      Pick or consume any of our lovely flowers, berries, or plants as some are poisonous.

·      Enter any of our unauthorised access areas.

How the offer works…

When booking a full-priced visit for a visit after 29 March 2025 you will be eligible to receive the ‘Visit and Save ‘promotional offer*.

This offer allows everyone included in your original booking to visit together repeatedly for a reduced admission price during a 12-month period.

On your first return visit, every person included in the original booking can return together for just £10 per person. On your second return visit and every subsequent visit after this within the 12-month period, you can return together again for just £5 per person!

How to receive the offer …

On redeeming your original full-priced booking on entry at the Kiosk / Jungle Gift Shop, you will be issued with a promotional ‘Visit and Save’ offer stamp card. Keep this card safe as you will need to produce it at every future return visit made during the promotional period to receive the discounted admission.

The ‘Visit and Save’ offer applies to any original full-priced booking made online via our website or in person for a visit taking place during the promotional period which commenced on Saturday 29 March 2025.

You can use your ‘Visit & Save’ card to make multiple discounted return visits within a 12-month period subject to its terms of use.

Your ‘Visit and Save’ return visits must be booked in advance online on our website via this link and must be taken within a 12-month period from the date of your original booking.

You will require your original first booking reference number each time you make a return visit booking online. Please select either a £10pp second return visit option or £5pp third and subsequent return visit option. This option MUST match the stamps collected on your ‘Visit and Save’ stamp card which will be checked on entry. If you have selected an incorrect return visit price, you will be required to pay the difference in price before gaining entry on the day.

The offer expiry date will be stated on your ‘Visit and Save’ stamp card as will the number of people entitled to return and receive the promotional price each visit.

The ‘Visit and Save’ admission per person offer only applies to the same number of visitors included in the original booking or less. Any additional persons attending will be charged at our full current admission price and can be booked separately online via the general admission category.

You will need to produce both your ‘Visit and Save’ stamp card and current ‘Visit and Save’ booking reference each time on entry for the offer to be valid.

How do we book?

Click here to book tickets for general admission, members, rainy day return passes and carers.

Once booked tickets cannot be refunded but dates can be transferred subject to giving 48 hours’ notice, after this period a admin/transfer fee will be charged.

When can we visit and how long can we stay?

As a small centre, the health and safety of our visitors, staff and animals is paramount. As space and car parking facilities are limited, we use a staggered entry time method to control capacity.

Can we use a promotional voucher?

Membership and Gift Vouchers

A limited number of tickets will be made available for our members each day. The percentage of tickets will be based on our average number of member visits recorded during the same pre-covid period. Members must still book online to allow us to maintain our maximum number of visitors per day.

If you have a great time when visiting why not take out a membership during your visit and we will refund the cost of your admission. This can only be done on the day of your visit.

If you have a Tropical Butterfly House gift voucher, these can be redeemed on site or online for both admission and retail purchases.

 

Accessibility and Carers

An official carer will be admitted for half price when accompanying a full paying child or adult (one half price carer ticket per child or adult, normal admission charges apply to any additional carers).

Carers must be included within your booking and should provide ID from Care Home/Employer, Care Allowance Claim Letter, a Metro bus pass for disabled which states 'Plus One', an Access Card that states a ‘Plus One’ or a DWP/DLA/PIP letter that states that you are in receipt of a Carer's Allowance or the middle or highest rate of Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence Payment.

All areas of the park are accessible apart from one pond viewing area in the tropical house. Wheelchairs are available to hire subject to a deposit and availability. We have accessible toilet facilities.

We are here to help: If you have any special requests or needs to make your visit run more smoothly, then please call or email us and we will do our upmost to accommodate.

 

Caring for all

Whilst visiting, we kindly ask you to respect and make space for each other, especially in indoor and enclosed areas or pathways around the park.

Please wash and sanitise your hands at regular intervals using the washing facilities provided whilst onsite.  Toilets will be open at Lottie’s Coffee Lounge, Indoor Activity Centre and Outdoor Play Park.

 

What can I see and do when visiting?

Please see the signage for the times of our daily animal talks.

There are lots of fun things to enjoy - our playparks, sandpits and splash zone are open throughout the summer and kids watch out - you’ll quake in your boots on the Dino Trail or can grab a gift in the Jungle Gift Shop!

Why not purchase an animal feed bundle including live mealworms to feed our meerkats, chickens, ducks and fish, grass nuts to feed our goats, a veggie pot to feed our guinea pigs, wallabies, porcupines and goats. (please note this excludes poultry food during avian flu restrictions). Otter Fish Pots are a bitesize fun way to feed our otter family.

For tractor ride times see daily signage.

It’s lovely at Lottie’s Coffee Lounge with glorious blooms and views from the outdoor patio area. Indoor and outdoor seating is available for eat-in or takeaway food and drink. Afternoon tea boxes and children’s picnic boxes are available to book online.

Dine in one of our stunning dining pods available for all visitors to enjoy or book our large pod for  special occasions, for a small charge.

The Butterfly Cafe opens during school holidays and weekends. Weekends are seasonal.

The Big Red Bus - is open during school holidays and some seasonal weekends depending on the weather.
